Corps/Facility:  harbor light center

Position Title:  associate substance abuse counselor

Schedule:  Part-time 24hrs/week

Date Position Available: Immediately

Salary:  minimum for wage grade 12 is  $10.09 per hour

Duties:

1). Maintain confidential, systematic, accurate documentation of client progress.

2). Lead substance abuse education and discussion groups with clients daily.

3). Make referrals to agencies as needed (e.g. social services, legal, medical, supportive services providers.)

4). Maintain weekly interview reports and other reports as needed.

5). Provide client monitoring service as needed.

6). Attend weekly staff meetings, counseling team meetings, peer to peer chart review sessions, monthly in-service training sessions, and other meetings as called for; involvement in community activities as time permits.

7). Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., team meetings, in-service training, fundraising and special events/meals).

8). Maintain positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.

Qualifications:

High school education/GED, RASAC I (within 30 days of hire), CPR/First Aid certification with one year related work experience required. Requires general computer skills, strong organizational and good communication skills.  Must be a team player, a self-starter, able to handle several projects at the same time and perform well with minimum supervision.  Must demonstrate ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment.  Requires a high level of confidentiality.
