The Nutrition & Regulatory Scientist I is an entry-level position within the Nutrition and Regulatory Department. This position is designed with an emphasis placed on developing and demonstrating strong technical expertise in the regulatory compliance aspects of ingredients and products. For ingredients, this involves learning and applying regulatory knowledge to review raw materials for allergens, nutrition information and compliance with FDA regulations. For products, this includes development of ingredient statements, creation of nutrition facts panels, validation of nutrition and ingredient claims, etc. Data for ingredients and products is managed with the Product Vision system.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
� Collaborate on projects and other duties by working cross-functionally with food technologists, specification administrators, legal, marketing, food safety, quality assurance and sales.
� Assist other Nutrition & Regulatory employees in assuring compliance with and advising the business on nutrition and regulatory requirements as well as applicable Ralcorp standards and policies.
� Support other members of the Nutrition & Regulatory team in the development of technical information for package labeling, advertising, and other marketing materials in support of both internal and external communication to customers and consumers.
� Input data into the Product Vision Software system (raw materials nutrition facts, regulatory) and manage outputs (nutrition facts panel, ingredient line, regulatory, claims).
� Support the Ralcorp Food Group integration by inputting data into Product Vision software and assisting with other tasks needed to successfully execute the integration project.
� Respond to customer requests (internal or external including international requests) and questions and assist with providing accurate information for final packaging to the graphics group.
� Respond to consumer questions.
� Provide back-up support to the other Ralston Foods Nutrition and Regulatory personnel, including specifications administrator.
� Become proficient in software used by the Nutrition & Regulatory Dept., such as the project planning database, nutrition labeling software, and SharePoint. Job Qualifications
� Minimum B.S. degree in Nutrition, Food Science or related field or a combination of technical degrees and Food Nutrition and / or Regulatory experience. Registered Dietitian preferred.
