The mission of Desert Voices is to teach deaf and hard of hearing children the spoken language skills needed to speak and to understand when others speak to them. We ultimately want to prepare them to enter a traditional school setting with age appropriate speech and language skills and at the academic level of their hearing peers. We seek to help them become independent, successful individuals who can fully participate with the world-at-large through the use of spoken language.
Desert Voices is seeking a full-time Program Director. The position is responsible for supervising the early intervention program and preschool program. The Program Director works closely with and reports to the Executive Director, who has responsibility for an annual review of the Program Director’s performance.
Responsibilities and Duties include:
Masters Degree (or higher) in Deaf Education, Speech-Language Pathology, or related field.
Teaching certification in Deaf Education or School Administration.
LSLS Certification a plus.
Previous experience in teaching spoken language to deaf children at the preschool or elementary levels.
Prior supervisory or administrative experience preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to organize and delegate,
Ability to build a sense of community within school constituency and to instill confidence in Board members, teachers, parents, staff and broader community. Flexibility, enthusiasm and ability to manage multiple tasks required.
