Health Center Coordinator
Job Requirements: Graduate nurse, nursing student with clinical experience which includes assessment skills and medication administration, or other health care major (such as; Pre-med, Physician’s Assistant, or EMT) or another individual with experience in a Friendship Ventures health care setting. Positive communication skills, detail orientated, organized and good customer service skills required. The Health Care Coordinator must complete an orientation/training session before assuming role. CPR and/or First Aid certification or equivalent is required.
Responsible to: Director of Health Care Services, Health Services RN, Camp Nurse
Responsibilities: In addition to Health and Medication Aide responsibilities:
1. Mentoring/Orientation/Assisting other Health Care Staff in their roles:
a. manage weekly scheduling of on-call and time off shifts and serve as a relief while others have time off;
b. attend Health Care Staff meetings, Sunday all staff meetings, and daily meeting and relay information to Health Care Staff;
c. assist staff with organizing and completing daily routines;
d. assist staff to prepare for passing meds at picnics, overnights, and outings;
e. assist staff with treatment and charting for participants and staff;
f. coordinate transportation to doctor for participants or staff and supply pick-up (achieve agency vehicle certification);
g. assist with concerns and facilitate positive communication after an event;
h. assist staff with paper flow;
i. prepare for checkout day(assist with paperwork and cleaning) and prepare for the next camp session (stock check-in paper work and supplies);
j. complete cabin assignment and medication responsibilities, then track skills;
k. write camper profiles;
l. prepare the next camp week’s special needs list to program managers
a. Personal Cares;
c. Medication Administration and Skills
3. Monitor Cabin assignments:
a. oversee relationships between staff and participants to assure quality camp experience;
b. maintain positive and professional communication and support to camp staff and administration.
4. Manage Health Center:
a. monitor cleaning schedule for Health Center Staff and daily cleanliness of the Health Center building
b. inventory/audit supplies needed and create list
c. organize and audit for completion of staff and volunteer health records
d. provide friendly and professional customer service to campers, care givers, vendors and co-workers
e. maintain productive and efficient work environment
5. Evaluate quality health care services
a. help implement modifications to health services or programs to meet needs of participants
b. recommend provisions for a safe and healthy camp environment
c. collect, write, and submit camper notes to supervisor
6. Responsible for notifying Director of Health Care Services (via voice mail, email or in person) regarding:
a. any serious illness or injury of participants or staff;
b. referrals to clinic/emergency medical care and any transportation concerns;
c. work related staff injuries;
d. medication errors;
e. staff morale issues or concerns.
7. Act as a resource person in promoting healthy choices and support of staff wellness programs.
8. Maintain personal health throughout camp session.
9. Assist Camp Nurse in writing Health Care Staff evaluations.
10. Perform additional duties as requested by supervisor.
