Purpose of this job:
Camp Program Specialists are responsible for developing and facilitating activities for campers in cabin groups within the respective program areas. Position prepares, leads and evaluates programs and maintains inventory necessary for program area. Assists Camp Counselors as needed. Courage Camp Program Specialists provide exceptional quality outdoor and indoor experiences for campers with a focus on Courage Center’s mission of empowering people with physical disabilities to reach for their full potential in every aspect of life.
Required: Be at least 18 years old by start of camp.
Required: Have a background in specific program area such as listed above
Required: Have at least one year of camp experience.
Preferred: Experience, competence and sensitivity in working with people with physical disabilities and people of diverse races and cultures is highly valuable.
Major Job Responsibilities
Assume complete responsibility photography/media for program area. (Order and maintain all supplies, developing curriculum, provide organization, safety and operation.
Participate as part of the team responsible for evening and special programs.
Work with Camp Coordinators scheduling programs in conjunction with other program areas.
Compile an end of summer report of projects, materials used, recommendations and inventory.
Assist counselors with the physical care of campers and evening watch rotations. When not involved in the program, act as a counselor and take part in general camp activities.
Regularly take photos of camp activities to be compiled onto a digital disc to be given to campers at the end of the session.
