Campus Alerts

Special alerts are issued in an effort to keep the Fontbonne University community informed of current crime-related incidents occurring on or near campus that may affect the safety of people or property.

September 7, 2010

Over the weekend a 23-year old woman was robbed and sexually assaulted in the 7400 block of Byron Place which is located off of Wydown approximately 4 blocks west of Big Bend.  Also over the weekend two Washington University students were robbed at Big Bend and Lindell Boulevards.  Both locations are within walking distance of Fontbonne University.  A gun was displayed in both incidents and both occurred after 12 midnight.

The same person may have committed both robberies. The individual is reported to be 25 years to 30 years old and about 5 feet 6 inches tall weighing 150 lbs.  It is also believed that this is the same individual who committed a rape and robbery near Wydown and Skinker last April.

As a reminder, avoid walking alone, especially late at night.  When walking off campus, carry a cell phone.  Be aware of your surroundings and the people around you.  If you are walking towards a suspicious person or activity, turn and walk in the opposite direction.  Consider crossing the street.  If a vehicle drives up a long side of you, turn and walk in the opposite direction the vehicle is driving.  If you feel threatened in any manor, immediately dial 9-1-1 for police assistance.

Although a situation such as this may be encountered off campus, please make a report to Public Safety by dialing 314-719-HELP (4357).
