If you are not returning to the Residence Halls in the spring, you must cancel your room before December 1 to be eligible for a deposit refund. The housing contract is for an academic year (fall & spring semesters). During the contracted period, the student can be released from the housing contract only for the following reasons:
- official withdrawal from the University
- Graduation
- dismissal from the residence hall or University
- failure to make payments to the University when due
- if fire or other casualty makes the room uninhabitable
- marriage
If a student vacates the assigned space during the contractual period without the written permission of the Associate Vice President for Stdent Affairs, he/she is liable for the full payment of remainder contract. Anytime a student has the key to a room or has belongings in the room, he/she is also responsible for the rent of that space.
