Immunization Requirements for International Students

Fontbonne University mandates that all international students attending University meet the vaccinations policy requirements set by the institution and by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services for Missouri institutions of higher education.

Commuting International Students

Mumps

Tuberculosis screening (PPD) (MUST BE COMPLETED IN THE USA)

  • All new international students living off campus must provide evidence that they are free of tuberculosis with a screening and be immunized for mumps. Tuberculosis screening tests (TB/PPD) will not be accepted if received out of the United States. Additional medical attention is required if a student has a positive tuberculosis screening. The additional medical attention is necessary and requires a chest x-ray. It is the student's responsibility to provide the univeristy with written documentation that this x-ray and the follow up medical attention has been received.

  • You will receive information on the immunization clinic that will be on campus after your arrival in the United States. Contact a staff member in the Student Affairs Office to find out more information.
  • The Mumps and Meningococcal vaccine can be received in your home country 30 days prior to arriving for new student orientation.
  • Do not take vaccines in your home country after these dates:
    • Summer Session: April 10
    • Fall Session: July 10
    • Spring Session: December 1

International Students Living in University Sponsored Housing

Meningitis

Tuberculosis screening (PPD) (MUST BE COMPLETED IN THE USA)

  • As part of the housing application process, you are required to have the above three immunizations. If you live in university sponsored housing you must meet the immunization requirements.
  • Additional medical attention is required if a resident student has a positive tuberculosis screening. This additional medical attention is necessary and requires a chest x-ray. It is the resident student's responsibility to provide the university with written documentation that this x-ray and the follow up medical attention has been received.

  • Meningococcal vaccine for meningitis (Menactra).
  • Mumps - MMR (childhood combination of mumps, measles, rubella) is acceptable.
  • The Mumps and Meningococcal vaccine can be received in your home country 30 days prior to arriving for new student orientation.
  • Do not take vaccines in your home country after these dates:
    • Summer Session: April 10
    • Fall Session: July 10
    • Spring Session: December 1
