Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences

Finding Success in the Lab

While earning your degree in medical laboratory sciences (MLS) from Fontbonne, you have the opportunity to aid in the diagnosis and potential treatment of human diseases. Fontbonne has partnered with Mercy Hospital to offer this program in accredited, teaching-hospital laboratories, giving students the science background and the clinical experience needed to succeed in this exciting field.

You will enroll in a three-year program of study at Fontbonne, followed by a fourth year at Mercy Hospital in their School of Clinical Laboratory Sciences. At Mercy, you will be part of a team working with pathogens, cells, tissues, and genes while earning your bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory sciences. Students must be accepted into the Mercy program and will attend their fourth year fully on site, gaining intensive clinical experience as they finish their studies in this highly specialized field. This program is offered as part of a special agreement between Fontbonne and the School of Clinical Laboratory Sciences at Mercy Hospital in which Mercy Hospital provides all of the instruction in the fourth year. If students are not accepted into the Mercy program, they may complete their bachelor’s in biology at Fontbonne.

  • Small, interactive classes
  • Faculty as mentors
  • Real-world experiences and observations
  • New, state-of-the-art laboratories
