Spiritual Visions

The Gallery of Fine Arts at Fontbonne University is curating a show titled “Spiritual Visions,” which will be open to the public January 27th – Feb 25th, 2023. This is an open call for entry for artists of all media. Artists are encouraged to submit works that are inspired by their own religious beliefs or inner spirit. As part of our centennial celebration this year, Fontbonne University is honored to have on campus the 6th volume of The Saint John’s Bible, the first handwritten, hand-illuminated Bible in over 500 years. The Saint John’s Bible illuminated manuscripts were created by a diverse group of artists, using imagery and styles intended to welcome all to the stories in the text.  “Spiritual Visions” is an exhibition that celebrates the diversity of all religious beliefs. There is no fee to apply to this juried show. A maximum of 40 pieces will be included in this exhibition. Final Date for applying is Jan.1st. Acceptance notification date is Jan. 5th. Please join us as a participating artist and/or patron to our opening reception January 27th for this celebration of life and the human spirit

Mission

The mission of the Fontbonne University Fine Art Gallery is to encourage and support artists and the education of visual arts in the community through our exhibitions and programs.

We value the artist and their work by promoting and supporting them through exhibitions, gallery talks, education, and outreach programs. We want to help build audiences for the artist’s work by providing the community with a venue to view quality art. We believe in creating an educational environment for both the artist and audience to interact for a more personal experience of art.

We serve artists — young, emerging, and professional. We serve art viewers — novice and those seeking more knowledge and experience of the arts. We serve art collectors and special populations. We reach out to these communities by providing professional art programs and encouraging the participation of art through a variety of learning opportunities.

The 2011 Gallery renovation was generously funded by the Fontbonne Community Connection.
