As a performing arts student at Fontbonne, you are offered the ability to refine your talents in a professional setting located right on campus. Mustard Seed Theatre, a professional theatre company headed by Artistic Director and Fontbonne Professor Deanna Jent, began producing plays in the Fontbonne Theatre in the Fall of 2007.
Both undergraduate and graduate students have internship opportunities with the company, which focuses on plays exploring faith and social justice.
You will gain professional experience (and a great credit on a resume) as well as connections to the larger world of professional theatre in St. Louis. This unique combination of liberal arts education and professional theatre experience is only available at Fontbonne University.
During Mustard Seed Theatre’s 2011-2012 season, the company produced “Falling,” an original play written by Jent, which not only sold out continually and received great critical acclaim, but was optioned for off-Broadway in the fall of 2012. The company is also a frequent nominee and award winner at the St. Louis Theater Circle Awards, an annual ceremony honoring all professional theatre in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
