The Fontbonne University Speech and Language Clinic in St. Paul, Minnesota

Now supporting the need to communicate in the St. Paul area

Fontbonne University Plans for a New Speech and Language Clinic and Graduate Student Preparation Program in St. Paul, Minnesota

Fontbonne has been providing speech, language and hearing services in St. Louis for more than 50 years. In 2021, Fontbonne expanded services to the Kansas City, MO region through the launch of a distance education program and free university clinic on the Avila University campus. Now, the expansion to St. Paul, through the partnership with St. Catherine University, allows Fontbonne Department of Communication Disorders and Deaf Education to offer a master’s degree in speech-language pathology via distance education with hands-on training through an on-site clinic. Administer care to more individuals with communication disorders while also giving additional students the opportunity to obtain a master’s degree in speech-language pathology. All clinical services are provided by graduate students under the supervision of faculty members holding a certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Supervising faculty also hold Minnesota state licensure in speech-language pathology.

Applications for enrollment in the January and August 2023 cohorts of the distance education graduate program are open now.

The clinic is based on a family-centered philosophy designed to improve the quality of life for all those impacted by a communication disorder. Treatment is aimed at returning an individual’s communication functionality while also improving their ability to interact with family and friends, engage in activities, and even return to work.
