Non-Need-Based Programs

Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan

  • Ranging up to $6,000 for freshmen and sophomores and up to $7,000 for juniors, seniors and fifth-year students
  • Students may qualify for an unsubsidized loan regardless of financial need. Interest accrues on the loan while they are in school. The combination of a subsidized and unsubsidized loan cannot exceed the annual loan limits outlined in the description.
  • If you elect not to make the monthly interest payments while in school, the interest that accrues is capitalized when the loan enters repayment.

Fontbonne Family Award

  • $500 per family member
  • Immediate family members attending Fontbonne as a full-time
    undergraduate student.

Federal Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)

  • Amount of each loan may not exceed the student’s cost of education minus other aid received.
  • Provided to families who may not qualify for other types of aid or who need additional funds. PLUS Loans are made to parents of undergraduate students and are obtained through banks and other commercial lenders. PLUS Loans carry a variable interest rate capped at 9%. Repayment begins 60 days after second disbursement.
