Fontbonne University educates leaders to serve a world in need. We would like members of the Fontbonne Community (faculty, staff and students) to help us track our service hours throughout the year in an effort to publicize all the great work done throughout the world.
The field of service-learning and a review of service opportunities at colleges and universities nationwide identified a range of opinions, assumptions, interpretations and definitions related to service activities. Drawing upon the information collected during 2008-2009, Fontbonne’s initial framework for further curricular and co-curricular examination focused on three levels of service:
Indirect: Service provide goods or products to a needy cause.
Direct: Service in direct contact with people/needs for an one time or on-going period lasting several weeks or months.
Civic Action or Advocacy: Service addresses the cause(s) of a social issue.
