DESCRIPTION:The Office of Orientation & Student Engagement – incollaboration with our Office of Service & Spirituality – would like toinvite your boards to our Fall Leadership Workshop. \n  \nOn Friday\, October 13 – from 1PM-2:30PM in the Lewis Room –we are excited to welcome Carlos Andrés Gómez back to campus to present on Mental Health and EmotionalResilience.   \n  \nThe description of this presentation is as follows: \n  \nIn a time ofintense isolation\, grief\, and stress\, the need for strategies to promote mentalwellness and build emotional resilience are more urgent than ever. Withpressure building to find ever innovative and responsive ways to address ourstudents’ building mental health crisis\, this session will be focused on waysto keep students motivated and supported. Join Carlos Andrés Gómez (poet\, author\, educator) for this timely andinteractive program focused on finding ways to navigate some of the mostpressing challenges of our new normal. SUMMARY:Male Leadership Summit
DESCRIPTION:The LACE Center is excited to relaunch our Male Leadership Summit for Fall 2023.  \nThe event will take place in the LACE Center and locallyoff-campus from 3PM-9PM and will include a keynote address from Carlos AndrésGómez.  Male-Identifying Students are encouraged to participate. \nMore details about thekeynote can be found below:  \nReimagining Modern Manhoo  \nThroughstorytelling\, audience engagement\, and poetry\, Carlos AndrésGómez shares his journey of growing up as a sensitive boy forced tonavigate toxic machismo and restrictive gender stereotypes. A rivetingcombination of personal narrative and sociological excavation\, Gómez guides theaudience through his life story\, from that tender-hearted and out-of-placelittle boy constantly moving and changing schools to where he is now: a fatherof two and husband\, determined to reimagine how we all think about masculinityand gender—beyond preconceived social roles\, beyond the binary.  \n \nThe rest of the afternoon will be filled with team building\,goal setting\, and challenges that best develop leadership skills in ourmale-identifying students.  We are alsohopeful that this program will create a better sense of belonging for some ofthese leaders and create some community along the way. \nRegistration is limited and will close on October 2nd.  Studentscan click here to register.
