Griffin Return: Dining

HomeGriffin ReturnGriffin Return: Dining

Aladdin Food Services, Fontbonne’s premium provider of dining services, has created a Safe Café designation for all campus dining facilities to indicate that staff abide by strict standards of health and safety. More information about Safe Café health standards and practices can be found here.

The Griffin Grill, the Coffee House in the library and the Ryan Hall dining area will be open; however, alterations have been made to assist with social distancing. Signs outlining guidelines for social distancing will be present in all campus dining facilities.

Food service, starting November 14, will only be serving food as a “to go” option. We encourage diners to take food to their residence hall room, their car, or to eat their food elsewhere on campus in a socially distanced manner from others. As previously scheduled, there is no food service provided over Thanksgiving Break, the week of November 23.

  • Consistent with public health guidelines, everyone will be required to wear a face covering in all campus dining facilities except while eating or drinking at an appropriate distance from others.
  • Seating will be limited to one or two persons per table so at least six feet of physical distancing can be maintained. Limited indoor seating is available for commuter students who may not have access to other dining locations. Resident students are asked to take food back to their residence hall lobbies or rooms. Employees are encouraged to eat in their offices.
  • Those utilizing limited outdoor seating must maintain social distancing at all times.
  • Only to-go options will be available at the food venues. Cafeteria-style service will not be offered.
    • All meals will be served in disposable to-go containers until Fontbonne determines a cost-effective alternative that meets health guidelines.
  • Furniture has been arranged to promote social distancing and should not be moved.
  • Soda fountain machines will be available; however, students and employees must request a new, disposable cup for refills at Ryan Hall Cafeteria and Griffin Grill.
  • Catering services will be modified to meet social distancing guidelines. Menu options are also being revised to provide flexibility while implementing protocols and practices to help lessen the likelihood of COVID-19 transmission.

Ryan Hall Cafeteria

All guests must enter the Ryan Hall Cafeteria through the double doors by the unisex restroom on the main level of Ryan Hall and exit through the doors to the Golden Meadow. Reentry into the serving line for second helpings will require following the exit path and then re-entering in order to promote social distancing. Seating will be limited to only one or two people per table.

The dining room seating area will be closed during non-meal periods so access to the fountain beverage dispenser located inside Ryan Hall will only be available during meal periods. A new disposable cup will be issued for every visit to the fountain machine. Use of personal cups is not permitted for ice or beverages.
