FAQs

Find answers to your most pressing questions about Fontbonne’s plan to return to campus in the fall.

Do I have to wear a mask on campus?

Everyone on campus is required to wear a face covering when in public spaces, both indoors and outdoors. An appropriate face covering must fully cover your mouth and nose at all times unless you are alone in a personal residential or individual office space, are eating in a designated area or are outside and can maintain at least six feet of physical distance from others. Visit our health and safety page for more information.

Will the dining halls be open?

The Griffin Grill, the Coffee House in the library and the Ryan Hall dining area will be open. Seating capacity in these areas has been reduced to assist with social distancing and will be limited to one or two person(s) per table. Only to-go options will be available, and resident students are asked to take food back to their rooms so that commuting students can utilize the limited seating. Faculty and staff are encouraged to eat in their offices our outside. Cafeteria-style service will not be offered. Visit our dining page for more information.

What cleaning measures are in place to provide added protection?

Fontbonne is implementing enhanced cleaning and sanitation protocols throughout campus based on guidance from the CDC.  All cleaning supplies used on campus are FDA-approved for effectiveness against Sars-CoV2. Highly touched surfaces in common areas will be cleaned and disinfected regularly, and all spaces (excluding student residences) will be disinfected at least twice per day. Disinfectant wipes will also be available in all classrooms and offices. Visit our health and safety page for more information.

What should I do if I’m feeling sick?

If you are feeling ill, stay home or in your residence hall room and avoid all shared spaces. If you develop any symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, headache, digestive irregularities, loss of taste and/or smell, rash, etc.), report them immediately. Students should report their symptoms to the campus nurse; faculty and staff should report their symptoms to HR. If you develop symptoms off campus, make arrangements to be tested immediately. Visit our COVID-19 symptoms and treatment page for more information.

Will classes be offered in person or online?

The format of courses during the fall semester will vary, with a mix of on-campus, remote and blended modalities. Many courses will have limited on-campus components. Students should utilize their Canvas calendars and other organization devices to stay abreast of physical and virtual meetings. Visit our academics page for more information, including an up-to-date academic calendar.

What can I expect as a resident student?

Fontbonne’s residential facilities will be open and available for resident students at the beginning of the fall semester. Policies and procedures, including increased cleaning measures and mask usage, will be adopted to reduce the transmission of COVID-19. We will be limiting the number of students living in on-campus residential facilities and are no longer offering triple and quad living arrangements. We are also reserving some spaces for quarantine and isolation purposes. Visit our residential life page for more information.
