Griffin Return: Social Distancing

HomeGriffin ReturnGriffin Return: Health & SafetyGriffin Return: Social Distancing

Social Distancing & Density Reduction

Everyone should maintain at least six feet of separation from others in all indoor and outdoor spaces on campus at all times. Signs outlining distancing guidelines will be posted in common spaces and some offices.

To promote distancing, classroom and office capacity will be reduced; physical barriers will be installed where needed. Elevator occupancy will be limited; posted signs will indicate capacity. Where feasible, stairwells will be one-way and will be clearly marked. Furniture has been arranged to maintain social distancing and should not be moved. Fontbonne will limit the number of guests on campus. Employees may host invited speakers or vendors and will be responsible for ensuring they follow our guest guidelines.

Guest Policy

Only invited guests, including but not limited to routine vendors, visiting families of recruits and current students, potential students, donors and guest lecturers will be allowed on campus and will be restricted in number and scope of visit. Review our full guest policy via the link below.

Traffic Flow

All classes

  • Faculty know the flow plans for each room and will discuss them with students during each class.
  • When walking between rooms, please stay to the right and maintain distance from others.
  • Classroom doors should be left open unless noise is an issue for other classrooms.
    • Office doors should be closed first to attempt to remediate noise.
  • Students should wipe down their desks before use; instructors will do the same for their space.
  • Instructors should carry markers from room to room instead of using markers supplied in the room.

  • If your next class is on the same floor, please wait for the other students to exit the classroom first in order to minimize hallway traffic.
  • Some classes may be dismissed one row at a time.
  • On odd numbered days, classes at the 100, 300 and 500 levels should dismiss 5 minutes early. On even numbered days, classes at the 200 and 400 levels should dismiss 5 minutes early.
