Residential Life

Fontbonne’s residential facilities will be open and available for resident students at the beginning of the fall semester. Policies and procedures, including increased cleaning measures and mask usage, will be adopted to reduce the transmission of COVID-19. We will be limited the number of students living in on-campus residential facilities and are no longer offering triple and quad living arrangements. We are also reserving some spaces for quarantine and isolation purposes.

Residential Life is following guidelines from the CDC and the St. Louis County Health Department in order to provide reasonable precautions for students’ well-being.

Special precautions will be taken to reduce density and allow for distancing during move-in. In July, residential students will receive an email with move-in details, including room and roommate information. Students will move into residential facilities August 14–23.

  • Common spaces within residential facilities will be open, but access may be limited. Signs will be posted outlining guidelines for access and use, including social distancing and face coverings.
  • Fontbonne will clean and disinfect all rooms and bathrooms before students move into residential facilities. University staff will regularly sanitize communal bathrooms in St. Joseph Hall and Medaille Hall. Residents in Southwest Hall and Medaille Hall with personal bathrooms will be expected to clean their living spaces according to CDC guidelines.
  • Students may not have guests in residential facilities at this time.
  • No more than three students should be present in a standard residence hall room at any given time. Some single rooms willbe restricted to only two students at a time. Residents should verify permitted occupancy limits with Residential Life staff when moving in.
  • Grocery and food deliveries are allowed on campus. Students will be permitted to arrange curbside delivery and must meet delivery drivers in front of their residential facility.
  • Fontbonne Residential Life is still planning to develop programming for the benefit of residents; however, restrictions such as size limits will be in place to reduce the transmission of COVID-19.
  • Residents who test positive for COVID-19 should quarantine at home if they are able; however, the Mezzanine Floor of Medaille Hall will be reserved for students to quarantine if necessary. Accommodations will be provided to residents who must isolate or quarantine on campus. Students who break isolation or quarantine at Fontbonne will be required to move off campus immediately.
  • Students who wish to cancel their housing contracts should contact AJ Friedhoff, Director of Residential Life, at
