Professor Awarded Fellowship

Deanna Jent awarded fellowship
The Regional Arts Commission awarded Deanna Jent, center, and nine
other St. Louis artists a $20,000 fellowship for 2014.
Deanna Jent, Fontbonne University theatre professor and Mustard Seed Theatre artistic director, now has a new title: Fellow. Jent was one of 10 St. Louis artists awarded a $20,000 Regional Arts Commission (RAC) Fellowship, an inaugural class chosen from a pool of 265 applicants. The Fellowship was developed in 2012 after RAC completed a survey of artists indicating funding to be one of the most critical needs in the artistic community.

According to its website, “RAC recognizes the critical importance — both culturally and economically — of retaining and attracting artists to St. Louis.”

Jent continues to receive acclaim for her original play, “Falling,” which was originally produced by Mustard Seed Theatre in 2011 and debuted Off-Broadway in the fall of 2012.
