Successful Campaign Enhances Student Experience

Friends of Fontbonne: Bonnie Eckelkamp, Kathy Eardley, Vern Eardley and L.B. Eckelkamp. ST. LOUIS – Fontbonne University successfully completed its four-year comprehensive campaign this week, as officials announced that the university raised $20,028,636, a total that exceeded the $20 million goal and the most ever raised in a Fontbonne campaign. The largest in Fontbonne’s history, the Now… More Than Ever campaign culminated June 30 in a midsummer night’s celebration on the university’s Clayton campus.

“This is an extraordinary accomplishment for an extraordinary university,” said Marilyn Sheperd, vice president for institutional advancement. “We are so grateful to all of our donors who believed in the mission of Fontbonne and who demonstrated this belief through their generosity.”

The total raised will create three new endowed scholarships and establish one endowed department chair and will contribute to mission and heritage endeavors, athletics, operations, and the university’s academic environment, including the renovation of Anheuser Busch Hall, scheduled for completion in January 2011. Over $5.7 million has been allocated to scholarships and over $10 million to academic excellence.

Fontbonne University is a Catholic coeducational institution of higher education offering liberal arts and professional programs, as well as accelerated formats for busy adults. Fontbonne was founded in 1923 and is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.
