How to Cancel Your Room

Residents who wish to cancel their housing contract must follow the procedures described in the Student Housing Terms and Conditions as specified here. If you do not meet the criteria below you must seek an exception from the Director of Residential Life.

If you are withdrawing from Fontbonne and leaving permanently, you will also need to complete paperwork with Academic Advising in Ryan Hall room 107.

Follow these steps to cancel your housing successfully:

1. Start the process by completing the Housing Cancellation form below. Housing contracts are for one academic year (the fall and spring semesters). Again, if you do not meet one of the reasons below, you must seek an exception from the Director of Residential Life.

2. Cancelling your housing during the  contract period is limited to the following reasons: withdrawal, graduation, academic suspension or dismissal, marriage, serious illness, military induction, counseling consideration or death in the immediate family.

3. Fill out Resident Hall Exit Survey from your RA. We value your opinion and it is also part of the exit process.

4. A housing security deposit refund is is associated with moving off campus provided: an online or written cancellation has been submitted by December 1 or earlier.

5. There are 2 quick and easy ways to receive your refunds. You can choose either direct deposit or receive it on a Fontbonne University Visa Prepaid Card. Register at: https://fontbonne.afford.com/refunds. If you expect to receive a refund from Fontbonne, be sure to enroll in electronic refunds today!

6. Make an appointment with your RA to check out, return your keys and access card. No check outs after 10 pm. All personal belongings must be removed before your room can be inspected by the RA.

7. If you do not follow the checkout procedures, your student account will be charged the $100 fine. This will be taken out of your housing security deposit refund. The balance of your housing security deposit refund will then be applied to your direct deposit account.

Cancelling your housing during the contract period is limited to the following reasons: withdrawal, graduation, academic suspension or dismissal, marriage, serious illness, military induction, counseling consideration and death in the immediate family.

If you do not meet any of the cancellation reasons above, you must seek an exception from the Director of Residential Life. Call the Student Affairs office, 314-889-1422 to make an appointment.

You must meet all deadlines to qualify for a housing security deposit refund. No refunds if cancelled after December 1.

After moving out, your housing security deposit refund will be applied to your direct deposit account providing there are no financial obligations to the university, room damage/cleaning charges or holds on your account.

If the checkout procedures explained here are not followed, you will be fined $100 for improper check out. This will be taken out of your housing security deposit before a refund is given.

Fontbonne University provides a refund process that gives quick and easy access to your refund with direct deposit into your personal checking or savings account. If you expect to receive a refund from the university, be sure to enroll in electronic refunds today!

To enroll: login to your Sallie Mae E-Bill account or sign-up as a new user if you do not have an account.

If you have not enrolled in the electronic refund process, you will automatically be taken to a screen to enter your bank account information. You will need the name of your bank, routing number, and account number.

If you are not prompted to register, select the Refund Disbursement tab at the top of the screen. You can add your bank account information, make changes and check the status of any past or pending disbursement.

I understand that by checking this box I am cancelling my housing with Fontbonne University for the following semester and I will not be included in the housing assignments. A housing deposit refund is associated with moving off campus if cancelled by the deadline date. The housing security deposit will be refunded if the process is completed on time; if no money is owed to the university and no damage or cleaning charges are assessed after the final room inspection. I agree to follow the guidelines to successfully withdraw from the university.


You must submit a forwarding address to receive a housing security deposit refund.

Post Office Domestic Mail Policy: If you are withdrawing from Fontbonne housing permanently, change your address at your local post office to ensure continuous mail service.

Your mail will be returned to sender if you do not change your mailing address. This could jeopardize receiving time sensitive mail.



If you change your mind and wish to return to university housing, you must submit a new housing application contract and a housing security deposit.


FOR INTERNATIONAL RESIDENT STUDENTS

The housing security deposit will be refunded if the process is completed on time; if no money is owed to the university and no damages/cleaning charges are assessed after the final room inspection. If the checkout procedures explained here are not followed, you will be fined $100 for improper check out.

Assessed charges will be deducted from your housing security deposit before a refund is given. If money is owed to the university, the housing security deposit will be applied to your student account. If there is a remaining balance, you will receive a refund.



U.S. Post Office International Mail Policy: You must follow these directions if you are shipping your personal items to your home country.

1. ALL packages going to an international destination must be taken to the local POST OFFICE Acceptance Window.

2. If it is NOT postmarked with their stamp, the destination customs can reject and return the package to the US.

3. Fontbonne University follows these postal policies and will not accept packages in the mailroom.

4. Packages MUST be taken to and mailed by an official USPS Post Office.

Fontbonne University can not forward mail to international addresses. Make arrangements to have your mail sent to someone who can mail it to you in your home country.
