Fontbonne University has been celebrating the holiday season through a variety of inspiring programs and events.

Cardinals Care Gift Drive
Fontbonne University proudly partnered with Cardinals Care for the organization’s fifth annual gift drive. More than 100 items, including new toys and warm winter items, were donated during the two-day collection on campus. The donations filled an entire truck of gifts for kids in need in our community.

#GivingTuesdayFBU
On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Fontbonne University participated in the global day of giving movement known as Giving Tuesday. For the second year in a row, the Fontbonne community not only hit our goals, but we greatly exceeded them! More than 385 people participated in #GivingTuesdayFBU. This is the largest number of #GivingTuesday donors in Fontbonne’s history and a 20 percent increase from last year. Advent Twilight Reflection
On Dec. 1 at 7 p.m., more than 30 members of the Fontbonne community gathered on campus to reflect on the season of Advent. Adults enjoyed a special talk on seeking serenity during this hectic time of year from Director of Mission and Stewardship Linda Markway, CSJ. Meanwhile, the children explored the season of Advent through kid-friendly activities and games. The entire group came together for the lighting of the campus’s manger scene. Afterwards, refreshments, cookies and fellowship were enjoyed while visiting with a special jolly guest! Click here and here to enjoy photos from the event.

Emerson honors Fontbonne grads
|

|
On Sunday, Nov. 13, several Fontbonne alumnae were among 100 local educators honored at the 2016 Emerson Excellence in Teaching Awards. Recipients were selected by their schools’ administration to honor their accomplishments and steadfast dedication to the teaching profession.

Natalie Sipole wins field and academic honors
|
|
|
|
Fontbonne University women’s soccer senior Natalie Sipole earned 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Central Region honors. She has also been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for her efforts off the field. Sipole was named as a third team all-region scholar as a midfielder with a 3.55 cumulative GPA as a Speech-Language Pathology major.

Fontbonne University graduate fine arts student Scott Beaty was featured on KSDK Newschannel 5’s Making a Difference segment on Sunday, Nov. 8. Beaty, a Navy veteran, was recognized for his dedication to helping fellow veterans heal their mental and emotional wounds through the power of art. |

Education/Special Education programs receive national accredited
|

Fontbonne University’s education/special education department, as part of the College of Education and Allied Health Professions, has recently received accreditation for the next seven years through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, the single national accreditor for educator preparation. |

Documentarist honored with Civic Courage Award
|
The Bosnia Memory Project at Fontbonne University will honor the work of award-winning documentarist Refik Hodzic with the 2016 Civic Courage Award, which recognizes courageous commitment to the civic values of respect, equality and pluralism that represent the best traditions of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
