Fontbonne University’s Eardley Family Clinic for Speech, Language and Hearing is a free, non-profit clinic dedicated to meeting the needs of individuals of all ages and economic means.

The clinic is based on a family centered philosophy designed to improve the quality of life for all those impacted by a communication disorder. Treatment is aimed at not only returning an individual’s communication functionality but also at improving their ability to interact with family and friends, engage in activities, and even return to work.

Fontbonne has been providing speech, language and hearing services to the St. Louis community for more than 50 years. All clinical services are provided by students under the supervision of faculty members holding a certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Supervising faculty also hold Missouri state licensure in speech-language pathology. As a teaching clinic, Fontbonne provides hands-on training for undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Communication Disorders and Deaf Education.

Students, faculty, staff, and persons served in the program’s clinic are treated in a non-distriminatory manner – this is, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, participation restriction, age, sexual orientation, or status as a parent. The institution and program comply with all applicable laws, regulations and executive orders pertaining thereto.

The Eardley Family is no longer accepting clients. Please use the contact information on this page to get in touch with the program regarding community referrals.

Episcopal Presbyterian Health Trust Grant

Fontbonne University’s Eardley Family Clinic for Speech, Language and Hearing has received a grant of $10,500 from the Episcopal Presbyterian Health Trust (EPHT) in St. Louis, MO to serve ALS patients.  Grant funds will enable the Clinic to purchase Augmentative Alternative Communication Systems (AACS), and cover travel costs for faculty and students to perform evaluations; systems development, set-up and modification; and caregiver training in the homes of people with ALS who require AACS in order to communicate, but are confined to wheelchairs and/or beds and unable to leave their homes.  These services are provided at no cost to the patient.

The mission of EPHT is to support organizations that provide quality healthcare services to St. Louisans.  They seek to create partnerships with effective, community-based organizations that work to improve the lives of others through access to healthcare.
