Mission

The Office of Multicultural Affairs cultivates and affirms the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion by developing an inclusive community where all students can thrive. The office advises several student organizations, promotes cultural awareness through multicultural programming, and encourages dialogue around issues of social justice. The office offers opportunities for student learning, leadership engagement, and advocacy.

Griffins Achieving Progress Mentoring Program (GAP)

Griffins Achieving Progress Peer Mentoring Program for Students of Color (GAP). The purpose of GAP is to increase the retention and graduation rates of students of color, ease the transition of students to college life, build up students’ social and cultural capital, and connect students with student services on campus. First-time freshman and transfer students of color are eligible to participate in the program.

Diversity Trainings/ Workshops

The Office of Multicultural Affairs provides training and workshop opportunities for student groups, university departments and units, and community partners on topics related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee

The committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion engages in activities to protect diversity, explore diversity and equity issues and promote a positive attitude toward diversity on our campus and wherever the university does its work — from classrooms, laboratories, libraries and practice fields to administrative office and performance venues.

Scholarship

Dr. Donald M. Suggs Scholarship

The Dr. Donald M. Suggs Scholarship is presented annually to recognize two incoming freshmen in the St. Louis area who are from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds and have demonstrated the potential for academic success and leadership.

Overall Policy

To gather such data, we use cookie technology, which collects data in aggregate form, not by individual user.
