Fontbonne University – St. Louis has been formally reaffirmed as a member of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). HLC Accreditation notes Fontbonne University as an institution of quality and also allows Fontbonne University students access to federal financial aid and ensures the transferability of Fontbonne course credits.

The Higher Learning Commission is one of six regional entities recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the United States. HLC and its five other entities were established to assure quality in higher education institutions and maintain excellence at U.S. colleges and universities.

To meet the HLC’s high standards, Fontbonne demonstrated its quality in five areas: mission; integrity; teaching and learning – quality, resources & support; teaching and learning – evaluation & improvement; and resources, planning, and institutional effectiveness.

“We are honored to receive full reaffirmation for the maximum period from the Higher Learning Commission. The reaffirmation process highlighted our strength as a mission-driven, student-focused university that offers a high-quality education. I’m grateful to the faculty and staff who participated in this comprehensive review of Fontbonne.” writes Adam Weyhaupt, Vice President for Academic Affairs.
