Dr. Donald M. Suggs Scholarship

Overview

The Dr. Donald M. Suggs Scholarship is presented annually to recognize two incoming freshmen in the St. Louis area who are from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds and have demonstrated the potential for academic success and leadership.

Eligibility

  • High School grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or above
  • Membership in a racial or ethnic minority group that is underrepresented in relation to the University’s goal to achieve educational benefits of a diverse student body.
  • Full admittance to Fontbonne University 
  • Pell Grant Eligible 

How to Apply

Phase One: Interested students must complete the Suggs Scholarship Application

Phase Two: Applicants will be contacted by the scholarship selection committee once applications have been reviewed to set up a brief on-campus or phone interview to discuss the application and the student’s desire to be a Suggs Scholar.

Phase Three: Applicants will receive notification of committee’s decision within three weeks of interview.

Renewal

  • The Suggs Scholarship is renewable for four additional academic years with a 3.0 GPA and completion of 30 Fontbonne credit hours annually.
  • File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 1 each year.
  • Remain in compliance with all University policies and procedures.
  • Must join and remain active in University mentoring program: 1G or Griffins Achieving Progress (GAP) Mentoring Programs.
