Refresh Program

Improve Your GPA Over Winter Break

The transition from high school to college is a difficult one in the best of times, and this year has been especially challenging. To ensure that our first-year students have a successful experience, Fontbonne offers the Refresh program for freshmen who withdrew from or will receive a D or an F in one of the following courses:

  • ENG 101 (3 credits) Composition I
  • ENG 102 (3 credits) Composition II
  • MTH 115 (3 credits) Introduction to Statistics

Refresh is a free program that will be offered during the winter interim (May 15, 2023 – June 2, 2023). It will allow students to build upon any knowledge and skills they learned during the prior semester. Classes will be small and taught by faculty who will provide necessary assistance as they retake the course.

GPA Improvement

The grade earned in Refresh will replace the prior grade earned in the GPA calculations. If the new grade is higher, it will immediately raise the student’s grade point average, decreasing the risk of being placed on probation, getting suspended, or becoming ineligible to participate in athletic competitions.

Cost

Students may enroll in one of these courses at no cost if they withdrew from the course during the previous semester the course was offered, or if their final grade in the course was a D or an F.

How to Enroll

Final grades for the fall semester will be posted no later than Friday, May 12. Refresh classes start on Monday, May 15, and continue through June 2. Course modality varies, but most courses will have some required synchronous online (Zoom) component.  If you took one of the courses listed above and believe that you qualify for this program, you must submit the online registration form and/or reach out to Nick Rothweiler at nrothweiler@fontbonne.edu or 314-889-4675 by no later than May 12, 2023. You will then receive a syllabus and additional information from your course’s instructor.
