The transition from high school to college is a difficult one in the best of times, and this year has been especially challenging. To ensure that our first-year students have a successful experience, Fontbonne is implementing a new Refresh program for freshmen who withdrew from or will receive a D or an F in one of the following courses:
Refresh is a free online program that will be offered during the winter interim (December 16, 2020 – January 7, 2021). It will allow students to build upon any knowledge and skills they learned during the fall semester. They will be in small classes with faculty who will provide necessary assistance as they retake the course.
The grade earned in Refresh will replace the grade earned during the fall semester. If the new grade is higher, it will immediately raise the student’s grade point average, decreasing the risk of being placed on probation, getting suspended or becoming ineligible to participate in athletic competitions.
Students may enroll in one of these courses at no cost if they withdrew from the course during the fall 2020 semester, or if their final grade in the course was a D or an F.
Final grades for the fall semester will be posted no later than Monday, December 14. Refresh classes start on Wednesday, December 16 and continue via remote instruction through January 7. If you took one of the courses listed above and believe that you qualify for this program, reach out to Lee DeLaet, Director of Academic Advising, at LDeLaet@Fontbonne.edu or at 314-889-4539 by no later than December 15, 2020. You will then receive a syllabus and additional information from your course’s instructor.
