Social Work Department

Fontbonne's Social Work program is not accepting new students at this time.

Improving lives, building stronger communities

At Fontbonne, our department of social work is dedicated to providing you with a quality education in the classroom and practical, real world experience in the field. To help you achieve your goals, a strong academic tradition is augmented by a core curriculum that combines the fundamental principles of social work with the latest research and technologies.

Fontbonne University’s Bachelor of Social Work prepares students to utilize social work knowledge, values and skills for generalist social work practice. We are a community of learners called to “serve the dear neighbor without distinction,” according to the mission and heritage of our founders, the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet. We prepare social workers who are ethical professionals committed to social and economic justice as they serve and empower individuals, families and communities.

Program Values

You have chosen to answer the call to serve others, and our dedicated faculty is committed to honoring your call with integrity, dignity and respect.

The social work department’s program values provide meaning, purpose and direction for the social work program: academic excellence through scientific inquiry, critical thinking and lifelong learning; service to others; unity in diversity; understanding the importance of human relationships; integrity and competence; social and economic justice.
