Fontbonne University is seeking an Assistant Director, Freshmen Recruitment.  This is a full time position with an excellent benefits package available immediately.

Duties include determining effective methods to employ, prepare and execute an annual recruitment strategy to meet enrollment objectives; collaboration with other departments to plan and implement programs, events and communications for freshman recruitment purposes; and management of a communications plan that includes regular written, oral and electronic communications with prospective students, parents and secondary school personnel. 

The Assistant Director, Freshmen Recruitment, must also have the ability to assess the academic quality and personal characteristics of recruited freshmen students including assessment of academic background, references and other credentials of prospective students.  Preparation of weekly reports to evaluate progress and future strategies is an integral part of this position as well as local, regional and distant travel to high school visits, college fairs and other special recruiting events. Evening and weekend hours are required. 

Candidates must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, be highly motivated, possess a strong work ethic, have the ability to multi-task and have flexibility in scheduling. At least one year of professional experience in student recruitment is preferred.  Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.

Job Title:  Assistant Director, Academic Advising

The Office of Academic Advising at Fontbonne University is seeking an experienced advising professional to work with undergraduate students coming from a broad range of backgrounds and with varied academic interests.  Successful candidates will demonstrate an understanding of the institution’s mission within a culturally diverse environment.

The Assistant Director of Academic Advising is a 30-hour/week position with benefits reporting to and working collaboratively with the Director of Academic Advising to provide leadership and initiative in enhancing an undergraduate advising program. 

Duties include providing developmentally appropriate advising to undeclared transfer students on all matters related to academic programs, policies, and graduation requirements as well as transitioning to college; integration of curricular, co-curricular, and career interests.  The position also participates in advising and registration during event days for new students and requires collaboration with enrollment management, student affairs, faculty, and academic leadership.  Additionally, the successful candidate will serve on committees related to advising/registration, retention, student success, and academic review.

Required qualifications: Master’s degree in an advising-related field such as counseling or higher education; minimum of three years of experience in academic advising and related activities in a college/university setting; highly motivated; service oriented; strong interpersonal, communication and critical thinking skills; ability to exercise outstanding judgment, make sound decisions, and manage difficult situations; demonstrated effective organization and management skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and creatively with a variety of individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives; ability to initiate, prioritize, plan, problem solve, and multi-task; strong computer skills and familiarity with technology used in student services’ daily operations and for reporting.

Preferred qualifications: Experience teaching at the secondary or college/university level; knowledge of using and implementing social media; understanding of the CAS standards and NACADA Core Values for academic advising.

Job Title:  Part-time Reference Librarians

Several positions open for part-time, evening and weekend reference librarians.   Responsible for general reference duties including but not limited to:

Provide reference assistance to students, faculty and staff

Job Title:  Director of Major Gifts

Fontbonne University has an immediate opening for a full-time Director of Major Gifts.  The position reports to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement in all matters concerning contributed revenue for the University. The ideal candidate will exhibit an appreciation for a faith-based university and its mission.  In addition, the director must show an interest in all aspects of education and dedication to promoting the University’s fundraising priorities through developing excellent relationships with faculty, senior academic leaders, volunteers, and advancement team members. 

The director solicits gifts of $20,000 and above from alumni, individuals and in collaboration with the VPIA, corporations. The director develops and manages close relationships with approximately 75 major donors and prospects.  The director participates in department-wide moves management efforts by identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting important alumni, as well as significant friends of the University, and assists these donors in realizing their full-giving potential.

The director of major gifts assists the VP in strategic planning for the institution’s fundraising efforts and collaborates with volunteers and the entire advancement staff to solicit donors’ financial support for University priorities. In addition, the director monitors all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations and continued advancement of the prospect’s support for the University.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of principal prospects and prospect activity in the primary territory by participating in all aspects of the gift cycle.
  • Providing management for prospects in secondary territories.                                                          
  • Offering strategic counsel to the VP on all advancement planning, in particular the managing of prospective and current major donors.
  • Focusing on securing support for a set of campus-wide priorities that include academic programs such as the sciences, endowed chairs, scholarships, unrestricted support, facility renovations, new facilities, and campus improvements.
  • Providing counsel to the VPIA and the director of alumni relations on outreach programming in areas that impact major gift contributions.

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred with five to seven years of successful experience in higher education in major gifts fundraising.  The successful candidate must also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated leadership ability and a demonstrated record of reaching annual objectives.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Raiser’s Edge and major research tools.
