Rockstar Nutritionist Brings Fun Fitness to Fontbonne

HomeCampus & CommunityRockstar Nutritionist Brings Fun Fitness to Fontbonne

Jump with Jill posterJill Jayne, known as the Rockstar Nutritionist, convinces kids to eat their veggies through music, movement and rock ‘n roll. She comes to St. Louis on Friday, July 28, to perform a concert for her biggest fans — kids. Sponsored by Fontbonne University’s campF.R.E.S.H.®, Jayne’s performance will take place in the Lewis Room of the Fontbonne’s Taylor Library, 6800 Wydown Blvd., at 7 p.m. The performance is free and open to the public.

Jump with Jill is a rock and roll concert about nutrition that travels to schools across the nation. It combats childhood obesity through original music, movement-based learning and a central character, Jill, and it uses the same tools normally used to sell junk food to teach kids about healthy habits.

“According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, 30 percent of children in Missouri are considered obese,” said Mary Beth Ohlms, campF.R.E.S.H.® and chair of Fontbonne’s dietetics department. “As dietitians, we strive to find fun and effective ways to help kids learn healthy eating habits early on, so they can live long and productive lives. Jill does exactly this in an unforgettable way.”

campF.R.E.S.H.® is a summer day camp at Fontbonne University that takes kids on an interactive, hands-on journey toward better health through activities emphasizing nutrition, wellness, physical exercise and creativity. The camp is open to 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th graders, and is hosted by the Fontbonne University department of family & consumer sciences.
