Special Education Major

As a special education major, you’ll have a foundation in the liberal arts, along with professional education courses to prepare you for certification in grades K-12 in mild-moderate disabilities, along with add-on certification in elementary education for grades 1-6.

Fontbonne’s Educator Preparation Programs are recognized and certified by state and national agencies, thus providing graduates with excellent credentials for entering the teaching profession.

In-Field Learning Experiences

Early, mid-level, and final clinical experiences occur in public, private and parochial schools such as Special School District in St. Louis County, St. Louis Public Schools, Schools in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, and a variety of other school districts, such as Affton, Clayton, Ferguson-Florissant, Ft. Zumwalt, Hazelwood, Kirkwood, Ladue, Lindbergh, Mehlville, O’Fallon, Parkway, Pattonville, Riverview Gardens, Rockwood, University City and Webster Groves.
