Freshman Scholarships and Institutional Aid
Institutional aid and scholarships are considered gift aid—meaning you do not have to pay them back—and come directly from Fontbonne.
Your Fontbonne admission application is the first step in qualifying for a merit scholarship. Entering first-time freshmen who qualify for a merit scholarship may also qualify for one talent scholarship.
Transfer students who have earned less than 15 transferable hours at the time of admission may also be eligible for a merit-based scholarship. Consideration for these scholarships is based on high school and college cumulative grade point averages and ACT or SAT scores. Learn more about additional transfer scholarships.

Dean's Scholarshipup to $15,000 per academic year
Founder's Scholarshipup to $11,500 per academic year

A+ Scholarshipsup to $1,000 per academic year
Any student attending an A+ high school who completes the Missouri state requirements for the program. A+ Scholarship Application Form due by March 1 of senior year.
Boys State Alumni Scholarshipup to $2,000 per academic year
Must be a citizen of Missouri Boys State. Based on past academic performance and completion of Boys State program. Up to five scholarships awarded.
Campus Ministry Leadership Scholarship$2,000 per academic year
Incoming first-time freshmen or transfer students with a minimum 2.5 GPA and have demonstrated past involvement in community engagement, service or ministry. Students do not need to be Catholic to qualify, but need to be active in their faith. Up to twelve scholarships awarded.
Catholic High School Recognition Awardup to $2,000 per academic year
First-year, first-time students who have graduated from a Catholic high school and have been awarded a merit-based scholarship from Fontbonne University.
Denny Gipson Scholarship$2,500 per academic year
Offered to high school seniors involved in Junior Achievement with minimum 3.0 GPA. Student must submit a personal essay of 300 words or less and a letter of recommendation. Extracurricular activities, volunteerism and work experience will be evaluated. Major must be a program in the Eckelkamp College of Global Business and Professional Studies.
Donald M. Suggs Multicultural Leadership Scholarship$2,000 per academic year
Incoming freshmen or transfer students must have a high school or transfer school GPA of 2.75 and an ACT score of 20 or higher. Students must represent an ethnic group that is under-represented in higher education and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Preference shall be given to students who are residents of the greater St. Louis, Mo., metropolitan area.
Girls State Alumni Scholarshipup to $2,000 per academic year
Must be a citizen of Missouri Girls State. Based on past academic performance and completion of Girls State program. Up to five scholarships awarded.
Griffin Technology Scholarship$6,000 - $10,000 per academic year
Fontbonne University’s Griffin Technology Scholarship is designed for students who plan to study cyber security, computer science or bioinformatics.
A successful applicant must:
- major in cyber security, computer science or bioinformatics
- exhibit financial eligibility*
- be an incoming, first-year student
- have a 3.0 GPA or higher
- have an ACT score of 21 or higher
- be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
5-6 recipients will be selected annually.
Junior Achievement Scholarship$2,000 per academic year
Offered to high school seniors in the Junior Achievement Company Program with minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA and 20 ACT composite score. Student must submit a letter of recommendation from Junior Achievement staff, instructor or sponsoring teacher. Major must be a program in the Eckelkamp College of Global Business and Professional Studies.
QUEST Leadership Scholarshipup to $2,000 per academic year
Student must have a high school or transfer school cumulative GPA of 2.5 and must be actively involved in leadership positions at your school such as student government, service and community engagement, or other clubs and organizations.
St. Joseph's Academy Alumnae Scholarshipup to $5,000 per academic year
Fontbonne and the Stroble family are financially committed to providing more access to our sister school, St. Joseph’s Academy. Eligibility for this honor is limited to any first time, first year SJA student enrolling into Fontbonne.
First-time Freshmen and Transfer students applying for talent scholarships must major in one of these areas to be eligible for the scholarship. All materials for talent scholarships must be received by March 1, 2017, for a student to be considered for the scholarship.
Art Scholarshipup to $2,000 per academic year
Portfolio consisting of approximately 12 pieces (submitted electronically) that you feel demonstrate your ability and potential.
Performing Arts Scholarshipup to $2,000 per academic year
Performance audition of a 3–5 minute scene or monologue that is memorized and contains movement. Technical theatre students must provide pictures from productions you’ve worked on.
Other Institutional Aid
Students who graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Fontbonne are eligible for a 15% discount on their graduate tuition. This discount may exclude some laboratory and studio courses and must be requested each semester.
Fontbonne Grants are institutional grants made to full-time undergraduate students with demonstrated need. No separate application is required; a student is automatically considered for this funding when he or she has filed the FAFSA.
Fontbonne Family Award
Fontbonne Family Award is a tuition reduction award and applies when two or more members of an immediate family enroll simultaneously as full-time undergraduate Fontbonne students. The reduction is $250 per semester per student. These awards are made through the Financial Aid Office upon request of the students and demonstration of eligibility.
In appreciation of the services offered to our community by educators at all levels, Fontbonne University offers a 15 percent discount to qualified individuals enrolled in graduate coursework.
Qualified educators include those who work at least half-time in a nursery school, a pre-K through 12 school system or post-secondary institution.
A discount application form is available from the Fontbonne admission representative or program director with whom you are working. The form must be completed each semester or enrollment term to receive the discount.
Fontbonne University is proud to offer discounts on tuition through its partnership programs. Partners include those in the private sector, not-for-profit, institutions and government. Employees of designated partner organizations are eligible to apply and must meet the admission requirements of their desired program of study. Discounts may not be used in combination with other Fontbonne University grant, scholarship or tuition discount programs. An employee discount form, which can be obtained by contacting the Office of Admission, must be submitted prior to starting classes each semester.
