Learning a new language is challenging and exciting! At Fontbonne, we have structured our Intensive English Program to help you improve your English as easily and quickly as possible.

Fontbonne's Approach to Language Learning

The IEP Program

  • All levels of English may apply
  • 20 hours of instruction per week
  • 8-week session (June-July)
  • 16-week sessions (August-December) or (January-May)
  • Program includes: writing, reading, grammar, listening and speaking

Minimum Requirements

  • Proof of high school graduation or higher

Application Checklist

  • Fontbonne International Student Application
  • Personal finances (original bank statement). If the bank statement is not in the student’s name, a letter of financial support is required (please see below for a link to the form)
  • Copy of passport page
  • Transcripts, translated into English from all high schools, colleges and Universities attended and indicating completion of the equivalent of American high school

Costs

  • Tuition*: $11,330
  • Living Expenses: $12,000
  • Health insurance: $1,600
  • Textbook Fee*: $50 Fall and $50 Spring. No Charge in summer.

*Tuition is for 9 months of study (one academic year). Summer enrollment will increase average tuition costs. Fees include: International student fee, resource fees, orientation fee. All fees are mandatory.

*A $100 fee (per academic year) for ESL/IEP students ensures their course textbooks can be provided by the university; meaning students will no longer need to purchase those materials from the bookstore

Financial Support Information

Students applying for study at Fontbonne University must show adequate financial resources to cover tuition and expenses for at least the first year of study (estimated total finances required above). IMPORTANT: a letter of financial support is required if the bank statement is not in the student’s name, for example, if the parent’s bank statement is submitted, then they must write a letter of financial support**(Statement of Financial Support).

  • If the student or student’s parents will fund the studies at Fontbonne, a statement of financial support form and an original bank statement is needed and must show availability of funds for the required tuition and costs amount. Bank statements must not be older than 6 months.
  • If the student’s studies will be supported by a private sponsor, a statement of financial support and original bank statement are needed and must show availability of funds for the required tuition and costs amount. Bank statements must not be older than 6 months.
  • If the student’s studies will be sponsored by an institution or government agency, then the institution or agency must provide official certification of financial guarantee for the amount to be covered. Sponsorship letters may not be older than 6 months. A Statement of Financial support is also required.

Submitting the Application

  • Complete application form
  • Submit ALL required documents
  • Send ALL documents via application portal, post courier (DHL, FEDEX, UPS) or via email to internationalaffairs@fontbonne.edu
  • Receipt of your application will be confirmed by email, phone confirmations will not be provided

Confirmation of Admission

Your admission to Fontbonne University will be confirmed when you receive an official letter of admission from the International Center. If you have questions regarding your application, please contact the International Center by email, internationalaffairs@fontbonne.edu.
